Parasitic Architecture Examples
Designed as a prototype house, meant to showcase the combination of prefabrication technologies the 'tailor-made design', the 'Las Palmas Parasite' was constructed on the protruding elevator shaft of the exhibition warehouse - which dictated the shape/size of the plan. The 'object' was constructed on the roof of the existing building, and in true parasitic form it drew all of its services - water, sewage, and electricity from the warehouse, while also drawing on its support structurally. Parasitic City Takes Over Decommisioned Italian Highway
A fascinating proposal for a parasitic city to take root on an unused stretch of highway in Salerno-Reggio Calabria, located inbetween Sicily and Bagnara in the south of Italy. Although the idea did not meet the competition requirements its still interesting to think of buildings sprouting off a bridge.
